Photo Friday

This school year, I was asked to teach photography the Thursday before school began.  At first, I was extremely overwhelmed, but it has become a blessing in disguise.  In no means am I a professional photographer, but I enjoy photography and am willing to learn.  Each Friday, I plan to post one of my favorite photographs I have taken.  Critiques are welcomed and encouraged.

The following photograph was taken last summer.  It was one of the photos I took during Caden's one-year-old photo session.  I chose this photo because it was my first attempt at selective coloring (with the help of my brother).  Sometimes I think selective coloring can be cheesy, but I think it works for this photo.  What do you think?

February Sunshine

Presidents' Day provided us with some much needed sunshine.  We had a chance to go to our favorite park as a family and play hoops!

Our Little Graffiti Artist

Yesterday, when I bent down to pick something up off of the kitchen floor, I noticed some graffiti on our dining room table. Someone (not mentioning any names) has been into coloring lately. Thank goodness for Crayola's bath crayons; they are extremely easy to get off of all different kinds of surfaces. How would I know? Well, thus far I have washed crayon off of the wall, the dining room table, the front door, the kitchen island, the fridge, the end table, the rocking chair, the dog kennel. . .you get the point! Someone (again, not mentioning any names) is now not allowed to use crayons while Mommy is not home.

Here is just a small sample of "someone's" graffiti:

Life Is a Gift

Oftentimes, I am so busy that I do not take time to be thankful for what God has blessed me with.  This week, I assigned my students to write a poem.  One of my students wrote, "I understand that life is a gift." Though I have heard this before, this line impressed me; at sixteen, this young woman understands that life is a gift.  This reminded me that every breath we take and every day we are alive are gifts from God that we should not take for granted.  I go to work to teach, but most days, I am the student.

Life Written Down

Friends and Family,

Welcome to "Life Written Down"! After a long time debating, I have finally decided to begin a Blog.  One of the reasons it took me so long to decide whether or not to begin a Blog is because it takes me a long time to make decisions. . .I could not decide on a title or what I should Blog about.  Well, after a lot of thought, I have decided to title my Blog, "Life Written Down," after one of my husband's songs (I asked him for permission of course!).  I have also decided (with help from a friend) that I am going to Blog about random things that are going on in my life.  My first real post is coming soon. . .it may take me awhile to decide on what to Blog about : ).  Suggestions are welcome!

I am looking forward to staying in touch with friends and family through Blogging.
