Getting Paid to Do What I Love

For the past couple of years, I have wanted to go to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm to take photographs. This year, my digital photography students "persuaded" me to take them there. We had such a fun day. I feel a little guilty for getting paid to do what I love. My students continue to inspire me with what they see through the lens. I am saddened that this is most likely the last year that I will be teaching digital photography, but that is another post. . .

Here are a few of my favorite photos from our trip. Landscape photography is not my strength (mostly, because I lack the patience), however, I have been trying to challenge myself with regards to photography lately.

Easter Day

We celebrated another busy but fun Easter with both sides of our family. The boys enjoyed going on three Easter egg hunts--they have quite the loot. Each year, Caden is beginning to understand The Easter Story a little more. He can actually explain most of it. . .when he wants to. We are so thankful for God's grace--it is so exciting to see our boys begin to learn about the real meaning of Easter.

I love this photo. Imperfect but perfect.
Carty loves to swing.
What is this? Where is my chocolate?!
I love chubby baby fingers.
Caden's Avenger eggs.
I smiled, Mom. Now let me find more eggs.
Our Easter Bunny has a sense of humor.

Good Friday

Easter is always a busy day for us, so today I had to bribe the boys with a trip to "a special park" to get dressed up in their Easter outfits so I could take a few photos. One boy was a little more cooperative than the other, but I will not mention any names. It was so nice out. Sadly, Spring Break is coming to an end. We can not wait for summer!

Princess

The boys have a new best friend. She showed up about a week ago and she will not leave. Caden named her "Princess." We were not looking for a new pet, but look at those eyes. . .

Carter loves Princess. He has been spending his days on the porch with her. He cries when she goes off to explore or when he has to come in. She is teaching him how to be "nice" and "gentle."

Wacky Boys

Carter prefers not to travel and we prefer not to travel with Carter, so this Spring Break we are staying close to home. We started off our Spring Break by meeting the uncles and Nana and Papa at Wacky Bounce. Eugene needs a Wacky Bounce. Caden and Carter bounced until they could bounce no more. If you have little ones, we think it is well worth the 45 minute drive (even with Carter).

The Space Needle

I have always wanted to see the Space Needle. Did I mention that last summer was the first time I had been to Seattle? I had been to Washington several of times but never to Seattle. It was so exciting to see the Space Needle from the freeway. We stayed near Pike Place Market and walked to the Space Needle twice. It had been painted its original "Galaxy Gold" to celebrate its 50th anniversary. I am terrified of heights, so we enjoyed the Space Needle from the ground (Colby had already been to the top and didn't mind staying on the ground with me). Can you believe people volunteer to paint the top of the Space Needle? No, thank you!

The Gum Wall

I have always hated chewed gum. When I was young, I couldn't stand it when kids would put their gum on their lunch trays. . .it grossed me out and it still does. That being said, I could have spent all day photographing the Gum Wall in Seattle.
