A Three-Year-Old's Interpretation of "Noah's Ark"

This boy is growing up way too quickly.  I have not written a post about the things he can do lately.  I think the main reason is because it would be easier to write a post about the things he can not do--just ask him!  In fact, when we try to do something for him, he says, "I can do it myself.  Did you forget?!" This boy is a sponge; he picks up language, songs, and stories so easily.  This week, at preschool, he learned about "Noah's Ark."  His version goes something like this:

"There were people.  And they loved money.  They didn't love God.  That's not good! Noah built an ark.  An ark is a big boat.  The animals got on the ark two-by-two.  It rained and rained and rained.  Noah sent out a bird.  It brought back a branch.  There was a rainbow.  And Noah had a promise for the people.  He promised he would never flood the 'erf' (earth) again."

You try to tell him that God had a promise for the people and not Noah! He knows EVERYTHING!

Or. . .maybe he just takes after his "Uncka"; his Uncka's version of "Noah's Ark" includes dinosaurs.

Winter in the Park

Today, we "someone" needed to get out of the house.  "Someone" called Nana and Papa and invited them to the park.  It was a beautiful day--51 degrees and sunny.  Both boys enjoyed our outing; Caden mostly played in the sand and Carter "played" at the park for the first time.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from our fun day:

A New Tradition?

Colby bought me a 50mm lens for Christmas and I took almost 400 photos while on Winter Break.  I haven't edited one photo and I return to work tomorrow.  We thoroughly enjoyed our first Christmas as a family of four.  We visited Santa, looked at Christmas lights, cooked our first Christmas Eve dinner, and made our Christmas rounds.  I will edit and upload a few photos soon.

On New Year's Eve, we may have started a new family tradition.  Caden has been asking us to go bowling, so we spent New Year's Eve at the bowling alley teaching him how to bowl.  At first, Caden let us help him, but after a few frames, Mr. Independent decided he could bowl all by himself.  He scored a whopping 52 points! Going bowling on New Year's Eve would be a fun family tradition. . .until we are too uncool to be seen with anyway!
